Hi! I’m Christine Young
I am a 2009 University of Iowa graduate with a BBA in Marketing. I am an excellent written and verbal communicator with experience in both web and print content. I also have some basic graphic and web design training. I am highly organized with an exceptional eye for detail. I am a problem solver with decision making skills and leadership qualities.
Internet:
I created my first webpage twelve years ago as a way to keep in touch with out-of-town family and have been active on the internet, blogging and networking, ever since. I created my first blog on Blogspot in 2005. I graduated to WordPress in 2006. In 2008 to 2009 I worked as a freelance blogger researching and writing articles almost daily about raising tweens and teens. Using effective SEO practices, social media, and my excellent writing skills, I increased readership by 30% to more than 15,000 pageviews in my first six months. I have created small StumbleUpon and Google Ad campaigns to increase website traffic and I have an excellent understanding of the importance of keyword research. I am well versed in web stat programs, particularly Google Analytics. I also have advanced HTML and CSS skills along with a basic knowledge of PHP (in WordPress). Additionally I am an experienced user of the Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver and InDesign.
Marketing:
In 2009 I joined Junior League of Cedar Rapids (JLCR), a nonprofit organization committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving our community. With JLCR I have volunteered and excelled in several marketing positions. I am currently the Marketing & Public Relations Chair. In this role I lead a five-member team in maintaining JLCR’s professional relationships with local media outlets, as well as all internal messages, through consistent branding and communications. For the last year I held the role of Marketing & Media Chair for Ladies Titan Tire Challenge, an LPGA Futures golf tournament that JLCR sponsors. In this role I managed the marketing budget, held a press conference, wrote and distributed regular press releases, updated the event website and social media sites, worked with a graphic designer to create billboard, print and web advertisements, and worked with local media to create a media plan.
Leadership:
My leadership experience began in 2000. As a Senior Contract Analyst, I mentored new hires. I created training documentation and taught new hire classes for more than 50 new employees. In my current role as a Project Manager I lead cross-functional teams as we respond to requests for proposals, negotiate customer contracts, come up with IT requirements, and get customer’s billing correctly. In my provisional year in Junior League I was the new member project chair leading a group of 12 women as we coordinated a fundraiser to raise money for a local charity and reached out to area businesses to ask for donations. In my current position in Junior League I am leading a team of five women as we promote the organization.
Project Management:
I have worked in my current position as a Presale Project Manager for eight years. As a successful project manager, I work daily with cross-functional teams to review contracts for billing supportability, identify customer requirements and research product and system functionality to find solutions. I project manage multiple large customers at a time from contract negotiation, through IT development, and successful billing, while keeping management informed with weekly status reports. I lead cross-departmental teams to negotiate contract terms and respond quickly to requests for information and proposals (RFI/RFPs) resulting in multi-million dollar wins. I thrive at using my strong problem solving skills to find systematically supportable billing solutions to meet customer needs.
